Chelsea’s action-packed schedule continues this week with a trip to Manchester.
The Blues travel to Old Trafford tomorrow night to face Manchester United in a Premier League match.
Hosts Man United are going through a very rough patch, winning just one of their last six games across all competitions. They have always proven to be a tough opponent for Chelsea, though.
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel’s side will move eight points clear of fourth-placed Arsenal with a win on Thursday.
The Chelsea Chronicle has predicted the starting line-up that Blues manager Tuchel will pick, which includes three changes from the side that beat West Ham 1-0 on the weekend.
GK and defence
Edouard Mendy continues in-between the sticks as Chelsea’s regular number one.
It’s the usual system of a back three in front of him, with veteran centre-back Thiago Silva starting again in the heart of defence.
Trevoh Chalobah, who made an impressive return to the XI against West Ham, may get another opportunity to shine.
The first of three changes does come at left centre-back, with Antonio Rudiger replacing club captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
Rudiger missed the 1-0 West Ham victory through injury, but has been pictured training with the first team ahead of tomorrow’s league game.
Midfield
Reece James, who’s another that missed the last match through injury, is pictured on the training field. He could come back into the XI against Man United at right wing-back at the expense of versatile teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Elsewhere, it’s a very familiar midfield due to the amount of injuries in the squad at Stamford Bridge.
Marcos Alonso continues in his role at left wing-back.
It’s the midfield pivot of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho once again, too.
Attack
Mason Mount’s eye-catching form means he starts again in the number 10 position.
Likewise, Kai Havertz could continue at striker.
However, the third and final change could see Christian Pulisic make his first Premier League start since March.
The 23-year-old attacker came off the bench against West Ham to score a 90th minute winner, so surely has to be banging on the door for a return to the starting line-up.
Timo Werner’s made a statement with his recent contributions, but it could be Pulisic that gets the nod in the midweek game.
Predicted line-up
Mendy
Chalobah Silva Rudiger
James Kante Jorginho Alonso
Mount
Havertz Pulisic
IN: Antonio Rudiger, Reece James, Christian Pulisic
OUT: Cesar Azpilicueta, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Timo Werner
