New Polls: Trump Leads in Michigan, Ties with Biden in Pennsylvania

Recent polls reveal Donald Trump holding an eight-percentage-point lead over Joe Biden in Michigan, while the two are tied in Pennsylvania. According to the CNN poll, Trump secured 50 percent support from Michigan voters compared to Biden’s 42 percent. In Pennsylvania, both candidates garnered 46 percent of the vote.

Although Biden won both states in the 2020 presidential election, the polls indicate dissatisfaction among voters with their options for the 2024 election. A majority of voters in Michigan (53 percent) and Pennsylvania (52 percent) expressed dissatisfaction with the candidates.

Trump faces criticism over his legal issues and attempts to challenge the 2020 election results, while Biden confronts questions about his age and mental sharpness. Interestingly, a significant portion of voters in both states indicated that their support for their respective candidates was more against the opponent rather than for their chosen candidate.

In Michigan, 63 percent of Biden voters and 38 percent of Trump voters viewed their support in this manner. Similarly, in Pennsylvania, 61 percent of Biden voters and 34 percent of Trump voters expressed the same sentiment.

The CNN polls surveyed 1,132 registered voters in Pennsylvania and 1,097 in Michigan via online and phone interviews from March 13 to March 18. The margin of error is plus-or-minus 3.8 percentage points in Pennsylvania and 3.6 percentage points in Michigan.
