President Bola Tinubu denounced the escalating rate of kidnappings nationwide, emphasizing that those involved must be classified and treated as terrorists. He made these remarks during a Ramadan dinner on Tuesday, hosted for members of the Federal judiciary, with Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Olukayode Ariwoola leading the gathering.
“We must regard kidnappers as terrorists. They exhibit cowardice,” stated Tinubu.
He continued, “They have been diminished. They target vulnerable individuals, such as schoolchildren, causing widespread unrest.”
“We must categorize them as terrorists to effectively combat and eradicate their activities. I assure you, we will eliminate them.”
The dinner was attended by both serving and retired judicial officers, including two former CJNs, Justice Mahmud Mohammed and Justice Walter Onnoghen.
