The Presidency Accuses Peter Obi of Introducing Two Hazardous Elements into Politics

The Presidency has leveled accusations against Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, alleging that he introduced “two perilous elements” into Nigerian politics during the last elections.

Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, accused Obi of stoking religious and ethnic tensions during the recent elections in Nigeria.

Onanuga emphasized that Tinubu’s administration is currently preoccupied with governance and is not preoccupied with Obi and his supporters, known as the Obidients.

Speaking on Mic On with Seun Okinbaloye, the presidential aide affirmed that Tinubu’s administration remains focused and undistracted.

He stated, “At present, we are fully engrossed in governance and are determined not to have our attention diverted from our government’s objectives. We are deeply engaged and not even considering them at the moment.”

“In my understanding of Obi’s campaign, it marked the first time in quite a while in our nation that we witnessed a candidate igniting ethnic sentiments. During that period, he fanned the flames of ethnic and religious tensions, introducing two hazardous elements into our politics: ethnicity and religion.
