The Nigerian government has initiated extradition proceedings as fugitive Binance executive, Anjarwalla, is located.

The Nigerian government has disclosed that Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance executive who fled custody in Nigeria, has been located in Kenya. A source within the presidency, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed this development, indicating that authorities from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), International Criminal Police (INTERPOL), Nigeria Police Force, and Kenyan Police Service are intensifying discussions to expedite Anjarwalla’s extradition.

The EFCC chairman, Ola Olukuyede, emphasized the commission’s collaboration with INTERPOL, as well as authorities from the US, UK, Northern Ireland, and Kenya to facilitate Anjarwalla’s extradition. Anjarwalla, along with Binance Holdings Limited and Tigran Gambaryan, faces five-count charges related to tax evasion, currency speculation, and money laundering, as brought forth by the EFCC during their arraignment on April 4, 2024. Anjarwalla had escaped custody on March 22 and has remained at large since then. Furthermore, the government has confirmed that the EFCC has assumed full responsibility for the Binance case from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
