Chelsea’s interest in Torino defender Gleison Bremer is reportedly being hijacked by Premier League rivals Leicester City.
According to The Sun, Leicester are going to fight Chelsea in a bid to sign the talented Serie A centre-back in this summer’s transfer window.
It is understood Brendan Rodgers’ side have stepped up their interest in the Brazilian star by meeting with Torino officials. The Foxes are keen to bring Bremer to England and would even be willing to offer Dennis Praet as part of the deal.
The report describes Bremer as “lightning quick” and “excellent in the air”, plus he’s valued at £40million.
This comes shortly after Chelsea were linked with the South American centre-half. It’s been reported the Blues have been scouting him throughout the campaign, so have set their sights on a swoop for him ahead of next season.
Bremer is a highly-rated defender with 33 Torino appearances this season, which includes captaining the Italian top-flight club on several occasions.
Let’s see if Chelsea can help convince him to join by dangling the carrot of playing alongside legendary Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva.
