Chelsea have reportedly decided to let youngster Ethan Ampadu leave in the summer when he returns from his latest loan.

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea have already made their mind up to sell the 21-year-old at the end of the season.

It is understood that there’s already a queue of clubs interested in his signature, including Premier League side Norwich City.

The report explains Championship clubs Swansea City, Bournemouth, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield Town are all keen on him, too.

Ampadu’s spent the current 2021/22 season as a regular starter for Serie A club Venezia in Italy, but he’s not done enough to force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s plans at Stamford Bridge.

The 33-time capped Wales international has the versatility to play centre-back or defensive midfield extremely well.

However, his club career is set to be away from Chelsea, who’s he’s only played 12 games for at first-team level.

Could Chelsea regret this?

In fairness, this is one decision that could potentially backfire.

The Blues might need fresh faces in their squad quickly depending on the outcome of the takeover, and Ampadu’s not a bad option to have returning from loan.

He’s a great option in any squad given the amount of holes he can plug. Also, he’s already got some great experience on the international stage at such a young age.

The fact that so many clubs are already setting their sights on him for the summer is quite telling.
