The Enugu State Police Command has dismantled a syndicate involved in stealing tricycles across states in the South East region. As per a statement from DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, two suspected syndicate members have been apprehended. This achievement was made possible by the diligent efforts of detectives from the Central Police Station Enugu, with assistance from members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.
The arrested individuals, Michael Okorie (aged 18) and Christian Okorie (aged 19), both residents of Onicha Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, were apprehended on April 5, 2024, at approximately 11 am at Mbanugo Street in the Coal Camp area of Enugu. A stolen yellow TVC tricycle was recovered from them during the operation.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to engaging in theft activities in both Ebonyi and Enugu states. They confessed to stealing the recovered tricycle on April 4, 2024, from a location where it was parked during a wake. They were in the process of selling it when they were apprehended.
DSP Daniel Ndukwe emphasized that the suspects will face legal action once investigations are completed. They will be arraigned and prosecuted accordingly.
