After the current campaign, Chelsea plans to pursue a new midfielder.
Todd Boehly, a US billionaire owner who has spent well over half a billion pounds on Chelsea’s team over the past two transfer windows, is committed to rebuilding Chelsea’s team and leading them back to the top.
Aside from bringing in new players, the American worked tirelessly to bring in Mauricio Pochettino in time for the upcoming campaign after parting ways with Graham Potter earlier in the year. Although the Argentine has not yet been formally introduced as Frank Lampard’s permanent replacement as interim manager, it has been widely reported that a deal to bring the former Spurs manager to Stamford Bridge has been reached.
Pochettino, who is now poised to take over the Blues, is said to be looking for a new goalkeeper, a striker, and a defensively-minded midfielder, according to the Daily Mail.
& according to journalist Simon Phillips, Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion is the midfielder the team is most interested in signing.
In the Talk Chelsea SubStack, Phillips stated that “a new number six has remained a priority for Chelsea this summer for some time now, and that has not changed/will not be changing under Mauricio Pochettino.”
The double pivot is the most crucial position in Pochettino’s system, and he has stated that he wants a new six as a priority. Declan Rice won’t be signing for Chelsea this summer unless a miracle occurs (it’s still not over). In addition, a reputable source yesterday informed me that Chelsea has made Caicedo their main target for the midfield position this summer. The decision-makers have given their approval, and according to Pochettino, Chelsea will shortly make a move to acquire Caicedo.
At least two important players are anticipated to leave Brighton this summer. The World Cup champion Alexis Mac Allister, who is frequently linked with a move to Liverpool, will undoubtedly depart alongside Caicedo.
