The Spanish winger Marco Asensio, who has won 17 trophies with Real Madrid, is expected to leave the club this summer. The 27-year-old has turned down a contract extension from Real Madrid and is in talks with several teams, including PSG, who have an excellent relationship with his agent Jorge Mendes. According to ESPN, Asensio, and PSG are in ‘advanced negotiations’.
Asensio joined Real Madrid from Mallorca in 2014 and spent two seasons on loan at Mallorca and Espanyol before breaking into the first team. He made his UEFA Super Cup debut in 2016, producing a fantastic goal in a 3-2 win over Sevilla. With Real Madrid, he won three Champions Leagues, three La Ligas, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, three Spanish Super Cups, and one Copa del Rey.

Asensio’s decision to quit Real Madrid comes after a season in which he scored 12 goals and assisted six more. However, he was unhappy with his position on the squad and desired more visibility as well as a bigger income. Several other clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal in the Premier League, were also interested in him.
PSG are interested in signing Asensio as they try to bolster their team for next season.
Asensio’s exit will signal the end of Real Madrid’s three-peat era, since the club has lost several key players from that historic squad, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos, Casemiro, Marcelo, and Raphael Varane. Under manager Carlo Ancelotti, the club is in transition, and it will be interesting to watch whom they add to the team this summer.

Asensio will play one more game for Real Madrid before saying goodbye to the club and its fans. On June 4, he will face Athletic Bilbao in the last round of La Liga.
