It’s a new week for Manchester United as their attention quickly diverts towards Norwich City on Saturday.
United’s miserable season continued on Saturday as Anthony Gordon’s first-half effort proved to be the difference, handing Frank Lampard’s Everton side a massive boost in their bid for survival. United now sit six points off the top four.
Their next opponents ran out 2-0 winners against fellow strugglers Burnley as they kept their hopes of survival alive thanks to goals from Pierre Lees-Melou and Teemu Pukki.
United continue to ‘push’ for Tielemans
United continue to ‘push’ for Youri Tielemans, according to CBS.
The fresh news claims United and Arsenal are both trying to pursue Leicester’s Youri Tielemans, who is about to enter the final year of his contract and who could be available for £25m.
It’s also claimed there is no truth in repeated Liverpool links to the player.
Ten Hag dismisses United job as ‘rumours’
Ten Hag has repeatedly refused to be drawn to comment on the increasing speculation that he is to become the next United manager.
“I want to talk about the game,” Ten Hag said after Ajax’s win.
He was then asked by outlet NOS what he can say about the deal to United, to which he replied: “Nothing. We have finals left to play. I will not tell you whether this is true or not.”
United injury round-up and return dates
Injuries are piling up for Manchester United after they suffered two fresh blows during a 1-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday afternoon. Fred was forced off in the first half at Goodison Park and Cristiano Ronaldo later suffered a cut to his leg — but was able to play the entire 90 minutes.
Ralf Rangnick has seven days to patch up his squad for the Premier League meeting with Norwich City and he has already provided a less than encouraging update on Fred (hip). United were without four players for the game with Everton as Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Scott McTominay and Edinson Cavani sat out.
Cavani suffered a calf problem while on World Cup qualifying duty for Uruguay last month. Here is the current state of play on the treatment table at Carrington.

Nemanja Vidic says that ‘best in the world’ centre-back should be playing for Manchester United
Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic has named the defender he believes to be the best centre-back in the world.
Vidic made a name for himself at Old Trafford, making over 200 Premier League appearances for United between 2005-2014. In that time he won five Premier League titles, three League Cups, a Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Vidic named the player he believes to be the best centre-back in the world. He went on to suggest that said defender’s only weakness is the fact he’s playing for the wrong club – presumably referencing the fact he should be playing for United.
Gary Neville verdict on Man City and Liverpool sees him aim dig at Manchester United
Gary Neville has waxed lyrical about title contenders Manchester City and Liverpool in a glowing verdict that also acted as a dig to Manchester United – and other members of the chasing pack. United suffered an alarming defeat during their latest Premier League fixture at Everton on Saturday afternoon.
It was a result which left their top-four hopes in tatters. Tottenham remain in pole position after watching all three of their rivals – Arsenal, West Ham and United – go down over the course of this matchday.
As for City and Liverpool, meanwhile, they were poised to play out a mouth-watering title showdown at the Etihad Stadium. Before that game, Neville outlined what sets City and Liverpool apart.
