Telles talks Anfield test

Manchester United full-back Alex Telles is expecting a ‘tough derby game’ when facing Liverpool this evening.

The Red Devils arrive at Anfield on the back of a 3-2 home win over Norwich City and will be keen to dent Liverpool’s title hopes.

Looking ahead to tonight’s fixture, Telles has admitted United require no ‘additional motivation’ to achieve a positive result.

“You’re already highly motivated for a ‘clasico’ by the nature of such a big game,” he said. “We don’t need any additional motivation given the atmosphere and emotion,” he told MUTV

“From my previous experience [of playing in derbies] I think it’s important to concentrate. Derbies are decided by details and the team that focuses more on the fine details will win.

“Im really happy to be representing this side, doing my best to help Manchester United. I’m certain it will be a tough derby game.

“We’ll be prepared, we know [how] we have to play to win in derbies.”

Liverpool squad to take on Man United

In terms of Liverpool, however, it seems as though Jurgen Klopp will have plenty of options to pick from tonight.

The boss did not mention any fresh injury concerns in his pre-match press conference.

And on that basis – provided there are no late issues – this is the squad he may have at his disposal:

Goalkeepers: Adrian, Alisson Becker, Caoimhin Kelleher.

Defenders: Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Kostas Tsimikas, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk.

Midfielders: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones, Fabinho, Harvey Elliott, James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara.

Forwards: Diogo Jota, Divock Origi, Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino, Roberto Firmino.

  • Big game at Anfield tonight – and Man United could be without several first team stars for it.

Gavi interest stepped up

So then, lets talk Gavi, seems as though Liverpool are still there seeing what happens with the youngsters contract at Barcelona.

According to reports, the talented midfielder and Barcelona are yet to agree on a new deal and Liverpool are watching with interest.

Liverpool are apparently willing to pay Gavi’s £41 million release clause.

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah may have handed Liverpool an impossible decision

Manchester United might not be the mighty force they once were when knocking Liverpool from their perch under Sir Alex Ferguson, but that doesn’t stop Jurgen Klopp’s side’s 5-0 victory at Old Trafford back in October from being one of the highlights of the Reds’ season.

Even if they topple Man City to win the Premier League, emerge victorious in a Champions League final or down Chelsea at Wembley, again, in the FA Cup final on their way to clinching an unprecedented quadruple, very few results will be able to beat the feeling of such an emphatic win at the home of their most-hated rivals.
