Kyle Walker shares Phil Foden prediction ahead of Man City vs Liverpool
England starlet Phil Foden combined with Kevin de Bruyne for the winning goal against Atletico Madrid.
Kyle Walker has laid down a challenge to England starlet Phil Foden as the Manchester City teammates continue their charge for silverware this season. City remain top in the Premier League standings as they also prepare for the final stages of the FA Cup and Champions League.
A historic treble could be on the cards for City manager Pep Guardiola and his star-studded team. However, in at least two competitions, they face a direct challenge from Sunday afternoon opponents Liverpool. Only one point separates those two rivals before their impending showdown at the Etihad Stadium (4.30pm today).
Victory for either side would make them favourites for the Premier League title this season. Beyond that, there are further trophies up for grabs for Walker, Foden and company.
Both players were part of the City side that were beaten by Chelsea in the Champions League showpiece in Porto last season, while Euro 2020 heartbreak followed while on England duty in the summer. Foden, though, missed out on a place in the final due to injury.
Moving forward, the duo can take a significant step towards their fourth Premier League titles against Liverpool and, as far as Walker is concerned, the target is clear for Foden.
During an interview with The Telegraph, the England defender said: “It’s like he’s playing in the park with his mates and having a good time. With Phil, he keeps his feet firmly on the ground, nothing has gone to his head, apart from his hairstyles and thinking he’s Gazza in that regard!”
Moving on from his light-hearted quip, Walker added: “Seriously, though, I think he’s got that addiction [to football and winning] and will go on to become one of the most decorated players in English history — if he continues doing what he’s doing at the level he’s doing it at.”
