Kenneth Okonkwo: Crisis in Labour Party Won’t Affect Peter Obi’s 2027 Presidential Bid
Nollywood actor and former spokesperson of the Labour Party presidential campaign council, Kenneth Okonkwo, has reassured that the current crisis within the party won’t hinder Peter Obi’s potential presidential run in 2027.
In an interview with Arise TV, Okonkwo emphasized that the focus should be on the candidate rather than the political party. He stated that Peter Obi symbolizes “a new Nigeria” regardless of the party he represents.
According to Okonkwo, “2027 is about Peter Obi, not about Labour Party.” He highlighted Obi’s ability to galvanize support and represent a new third force in Nigerian politics.
He further emphasized that in elections, the focus is on the candidates, not the political parties. Okonkwo pointed out Obi’s brief stint with the Labour Party and how he still managed to make a significant impact. He believes that Obi’s loyalty lies with the people and that he embodies the aspirations of a new Nigeria.
