WHAT HAPPENED?

WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING
@CFCtalkz sent a harsh message to Madueke, writing: “Hope you’re sold.”
@Cricketclips501 added: “Chelsea players are an embarrassment! That showed in the last game fighting over the penalty taker! Bunch of kids.”
@Nicksta_napo said: “Noni just don’t care about football. Man is a content creator and he’s using Chelsea for his content.”
@Osagie_Otote added: “It truly is a different time. I miss the old days. And I understand why every old person misses the old days. But alas, we must accept players who lose and do a tik tok dance with the opposition. It’s 2024.”
@PaulQ_CFC concluded: “We used to have leaders at Chelsea, now we’re stuck with children who care more about Instagram and arguing over penalties.”
WHAT THE PLAYERS ARE SAYING
Thiago Silva posted on his own account, apologising to fans for the defeat, as he wrote: “It is difficult to describe in words what I feel now. We are very sorry we didn’t make it, we left everything on the pitch. Proud of this group. Thanks to all of you for never leaving us.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Madueke, of course, was at the centre of a media storm last week when he and Nicolas Jackson argued with Cole Palmer as they jostled to take a penalty during their 6-0 win over Everton. This season, the winger has made 16 league appearances and has scored three goals.
WHAT NEXT?
Chelsea must pick themselves up ahead of Tuesday’s London derby against Arsenal. It remains to be seen if Madueke will feature.
