The Fulbright U.S. Student Program, in collaboration with over 140 nations globally, provides exceptional prospects in all academic fields to driven and successful college seniors, postgraduate students, and emerging professionals from diverse backgrounds. Participants in the program work as researchers, teach English overseas, or continue graduate studies.

All Fulbright U.S. Student grants come with the following benefits: a stipend that is generally based on the cost of living in the host country (funds may be used by the grantee to cover room, board, and incidental costs during the grant period); health and accident insurance; a 24/7 help line for both urgent and non-urgent situations; and a 12-month non-competitive eligibility (NCE) hiring status within the federal government.

• Upon the application deadline, candidates must be citizens or nationals of the United States of America. Those who are permanent residents cannot apply. Please read the Award Description carefully to see if dual citizens qualify.
A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent must have been awarded to the applicant prior to the start of the grant period.
Four years of professional training and/or experience fulfills the basic eligibility criteria in the creative and performing arts. Before starting your application, please email fbstudent[at]iie.org with your professional experience and educational background to confirm your eligibility if you are an Arts applicant and do not hold a BA.
• Candidates must demonstrate adequate competency to finish their project and adapt to life in the host nation, as well as meet the language requirements of the award for which they are applying.
• At the time of application, candidates may have a J.D.
• Grants for postgraduate coursework are available to doctors of medicine, but not for internships or residencies. The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program is open to scholars holding an M.D. who have finished their official postgraduate training and who wish to attach themselves to a hospital or clinic in order to conduct independent or collaborative research. Grants cannot be used to approve activities that call for a medical or nursing license. Submissions for medical research including clinical training, patient care, or patient interaction are not eligible for approval under the Fulbright Program.
