Frank Lampard praised Benoit Badiashile’s play for Chelsea against Bournemouth this weekend.
On Saturday afternoon, a vulnerable Chelsea squad traveled to Bournemouth following six successive defeats in all competitions.
The Blues, on the other hand, departed the south coast with three Premier League points and a thrilling 3-1 victory.
Vina, of Bournemouth, canceled out Conor Gallagher’s first goal to tie the game going into the final minutes. Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix scored late goals for the visitors, sparking wild celebrations in the away end.
Lampard has had a difficult time since returning to Chelsea as caretaker manager, but he may be happy with his team’s performance earlier today.
He singled out Blues defender Badiashile in particular for outstanding individual performance.
“I think we all saw Benoit today, and it’s pretty clear he has a big talent,” Lampard told Football London.
Badiashile took advantage of his opportunity over the weekend, putting up a good performance on his return to the team.
The left-footed center-half moved into the defense alongside Thiago Silva, and Bournemouth kept the two busy at times.
Eventually, Badiashile appeared at the opposite end of the field with a crucial goal, sending Chelsea on their path to a much-needed victory.
The 22-year-old prospect should be disappointed that he hasn’t featured more since coming in January, with the choice to leave him out of the Champions League team proving expensive.
He’s certainly done enough in 10 Blues outings to make the fans excited about his future.
Badiashile was named one of the “brightest young talents in the world” earlier this year by Micah Richards.
