Edo road accidents claim 11 lives, leaving 24 injured.

The Edo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that at least 11 individuals lost their lives in road accidents across the state during March 2024.

The sector commander for the state, Paul Okpe, revealed this information to journalists in Benin City while addressing the issue of road accidents in the state.

Okpe stated that a total of eight accidents occurred throughout the state during the aforementioned period, resulting in the deaths of 11 people. Additionally, 24 individuals sustained injuries, while others emerged from the accidents unharmed.

He attributed the majority of these accidents to factors such as brake failure, speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, distracted driving (including the use of phones), and violation of traffic regulations.

While acknowledging the efforts of the command in intensifying campaigns against traffic violations, the sector commander urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations to prevent incidents such as overloading, speeding, driving while intoxicated, night driving, and using phones while driving.
