Chelsea will have to wait until after the Champions League final before finding out if Casemiro is available this summer, according to reports.

Casemiro was an unused sub as Real Madrid pulled off a spectacular comeback in the second-leg against Man City to book their place in the final. Having featured ten times in the competition this season as well as 30 times in the league, the Brazilian is normally a regular in the starting line-up. However, Real Madrid now face the prospect of losing their star, with Chelsea particularly keen on landing the midfielder.

The Daily Mirror claim Chelsea transfer chiefs will be alerted to Casemiro’s future after the Paris final has taken place.

It is reported that if a decision is made that Casemiro will depart Los Blancos, Chelsea will be made aware first.

The 30-year-old has been a member of the Real Madrid squad since 2013. He is also contracted to stay at the club until 2025.

However, Casemiro is believed to be unhappy with his current wage at the club. The midfielder wants a new deal with more money, or to be moved on.

Real Madrid reportedly want to keep Casemiro, but do not want to increase his wages from his current contract.

Having said this, Real Madrid chiefs, Casemiro and his agent are all willing to sit down and discuss future options. This meeting will take place after the final, and a decision is expected to be made shortly after.

Whatever the outcome, Chelsea will need to be willing to splash the cash should they want his services.

The Spanish giants will reportedly ask for a fee of around £40m if they decide to let him leave.

Real Madrid boss claims Casemiro irreplacable

Addressing rumours regarding a potential move, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti claimed there is no one in world football that can replace him.

Ancelotti has coached Casemiro for nearly five years across two different spells in Spain.

And speaking about his man, Ancelotti claimed there is no better option than Casemiro in the world.

“If we are going to look for a copy of Casemiro, we’ll make a mistake,” Ancelotti said to Diario AS.

“There are none in world football. He’s unique. But other players can play as a pivot. Camavinga played there, who has other characteristics. He carries the ball well but he doesn’t have Casemiro’s tactical ability.

“I’ve never had a pivot like him. I had Andrea Pirlo who had different characteristics. You have to adapt to what you have.”
