According to journalist Dean Jones, Chelsea is highly interested in signing Joao Felix this summer.
Chelsea decide they don’t want to sign £60m player now, they’ve cooled their interest
He informed GiveMeSport that they are aiming to make a non-cash deal worth roughly £90 million.
Felix has had an up-and-down loan spell with the club since moving to West London in January.
When he started for the Blues, he has frequently been the most dynamic player on the field. His production, though, has been called into doubt.
He has only scored three goals, the most recent of which came against Bournemouth at the weekend.
Since Frank Lampard took over the team till the end of the season, starts have become considerably tougher to come by.
Felix is highly appealing to Chelsea.
Despite this, Jones claims that his finest sources have told him that Chelsea is still highly interested in a trade.
“Yet that is completely at odds with messages that well-informed contacts at Chelsea pass on to me about what is going on internally,” he added. “It sounds like they want to keep him.”I believe they will try to be creative; a straight cash deal for nearly £90 million is unlikely, but there is also a recognition that if they cannot sign him, he may end up elsewhere in the Premier League.”I’ve heard he adores London and has adjusted quite nicely. There has been some speculation of a second loan, and he was offered to Arsenal and Manchester United before joining Chelsea, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see such a deal investigated again if required after the season.”

Supporters will be hoping that an agreement for Felix does not stymie discussions for Mason Mount’s new contract.
