Chelsea is preparing to recruit Manuel Ugarte from Sporting CP to deflect attention from PSG and Newcastle.

Why Chelsea Should Start Using David Datro Fofana

According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, this is the case.
As Chelsea prepares for a robust summer of recruitment, it appears Ugarte could be the first to arrive at Stamford Bridge.
What is the backstory?
Chelsea appeared to have missed out on the Uruguay international to PSG, according to Portuguese news site Record, who claimed that the French giants had triggered his €60 million (£52 million) release clause and agreed to a five-year contract.
However, it appears that Record may have rushed their story.
According to Foot Mercato, PSG has made an offer of £52 million to Sporting CP, but the Parisians prefer to pay in installments rather than activate the release clause with a flat payment.
This has allowed Chelsea to outmuscle PSG, with Aouna now claiming that the Blues are ready to fully activate his £52 million release clause and have already informed Sporting CP of their intentions.
Ugarte has the potential to be another Kante for Chelsea.
Ugarte is described as a feisty midfield terrier who thrives on gaining the ball back.
In a detailed scouting report from Breaking The Lines, the South American was described as a “highly aggressive” player, which is just what Chelsea needs alongside Enzo Fernandez next season.
In the same source, Sporting CP No.15 is compared to N’Golo Kante, a player Chelsea fans are certainly familiar with.

Reece James injury update, Manuel Ugarte move, Mount to Man Utd

Ugarte, who is only 22 years old, has lots of time to develop into a better player, therefore this £52 million fee may turn out to be a steal in a few years.
Keep an eye on the situation because Chelsea still needs to agree on personal terms with the Uruguayan.
