According to rumors, Chelsea are considering signing Barcelona’s Ferran Torres this summer.
According to noted journalist Simon Phillips’ Substack, Ferran Torres has been added to Chelsea’s transfer shortlist.
Blues scouts are said to be keeping an eye on the 23-year-old forward and have taken a closer look at him recently.
Phillips adds that Chelsea likes the notion that the Spanish attacker can play as a flank or a central striker.
Torres will be familiar to English fans from his brief tenure with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, where he did win one Premier League medal.
Torres is an extremely gifted young player who has been described as “incredible” by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
He’s had a tough season in Barcelona this year, scoring seven goals in 43 games across all competitions. It’s worth noting that he rarely gets to finish all 90 minutes.
The £ 46 million (BBC) forward still has a lot of potential and gives a lot of energy at the top of the pitch, so the best is yet to come from him.
Torres should not be a top priority for Chelsea during the forthcoming transfer window.
Why Chelsea Should Start Using David Datro Fofana
The Barcelona star isn’t the type of all-around No. 9 that Chelsea sorely needs at Stamford Bridge next season.
We’ve witnessed for several seasons that the Blues need to find a genuine striker who can lead the line and score near the 20-goal mark, something they haven’t had since the days of Diego Costa.
We don’t see much of a difference between signing Torres and keeping Kai Havertz.
