Chelsea Football Club is in the final stages of talks with Mauricio Pochettino to become the club’s next manager. This announcement stunned the football world, as Pochettino had been extensively connected with a return to his previous club, Tottenham Hotspur. However, it appears that the allure of Chelsea has proven too powerful, and the Argentinian appears to be on his way to being the next manager at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino is largely considered one of the world’s most promising managers. He rose to prominence as manager of Espanyol, as he led the team to a surprising tenth-place finish in La Liga in his debut season. He subsequently went on to Southampton, where he continued to impress before taking over as manager of Tottenham Hotspur in 2014.

Pochettino produced a club that played some of the most entertaining football in the Premier League during his tenure at Spurs. He guided the team to four straight top-four finishes, as well as a Champions League final appearance in 2019. Despite failing to win a title during his time at the club, Pochettino’s efforts were universally lauded, and he rose to the position of highly sought-after manager.

Pochettino appears to be on his way to a new challenge at Chelsea. Since parting company with Frank Lampard earlier this year, the Blues have been looking for a new manager. Lampard had a mixed tenure at Stamford Bridge, and the club’s owners concluded that a change was necessary if the team was to accomplish its aim of contending for major prizes.

Pochettino joining Chelsea would be a huge coup for the club. He is widely considered one of the greatest young managers in the game, and his style of play would complement the club’s offensive culture. Chelsea has a great group, and Pochettino would undoubtedly welcome the chance to work with Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, and Timo Werner.

However, there are some reservations regarding Pochettino’s aptitude for the position. Outside of Tottenham, he has never managed in the Premier League, and some supporters have questioned whether he has the tactical versatility to thrive at a team like Chelsea. The Argentine is famed for his high-pressing, possession-based style of play, but some believe he will struggle to adjust to the rigors of guiding a squad that will be expected to compete for several titles each season.

Concerns have also been raised regarding Pochettino’s ability to manage large egos. He had a somewhat young and inexperienced group at Tottenham and was able to establish a team spirit that many other teams admired. He will, however, be working alongside some of the greatest names in global football at Chelsea, including N’Golo Kante, Thiago Silva, and Romelu Lukaku. Pochettino will face a significant job in managing these players and their egos, and it remains to be seen whether he is up to the task.

Despite these reservations, there is no disputing that Pochettino would be a fantastic addition to Chelsea. He has a track record of developing young players, and his ability to get the most out of his team is unrivaled. His arrival would also be a show of purpose from Chelsea’s owners, who are determined to return the club to the top of English and European football.

Of course, there is still the problem of completing Pochettino’s deal. Negotiations are supposed to be underway, but it’s unclear if an agreement will be achieved. If Pochettino does wind up at Chelsea, it might be the beginning of a new era for the club. With a talented group of players
