Silva signed a one-year agreement at Stamford Bridge in February but could try to return home this summer
Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is allegedly willing to return to Brazil this summer.

Frank Lampard confirms 22-year-old Chelsea player is back from injury and available tomorrow

Silva merely signed pen-to-paper on a 12-month agreement at Stamford Bridge in February but according to Globo Esporte, he would rather go to his native homeland than stay at Chelsea for another season. The 38-year-old is thought to be keen on a transfer return to his boyhood club Fluminense this summer, who presently sit third in the Brazilian Serie A.
Silva’s former international colleague Marcelo is currently playing there, with the two still being close following their time together playing for the Seleção. Despite a great year personally, it has been a tough season for Chelsea as they sit 11th in the Premier League and out of all cup tournaments.
Following Todd Boehly’s appointment as owner last year, there has been a massive influx of new signings at Stamford Bridge over the last two transfer windows, which prompted Silva to call out the club’s plan after the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid. He said: “There is always going to be someone upset because not everyone can play. “The manager can only pick 11 from a roster of 30-something — that’s tough. Some can’t make the squad, we signed eight in January, we need to halt and have a strategy in place otherwise next season we could make the same mistakes.”

“Important proposal” – Chelsea ‘prepare for’ departure of player this summer

As such, the Metro believes that Silva will meet with Chelsea technical director Christopher Vivell after the season draws to a conclusion to request ‘permission’ to quit the club this summer. Despite his age, Silva’s exit would constitute a big setback to Chelsea with the former PSG defender having shown to be an inspired piece of business on a free transfer back in 2020.
