The England and Blues star, who has been out of action for the majority of the season due to multiple injuries, underwent surgery on his hamstring in December and was expected to be sidelined for three to four months.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Last month Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino opened up on the club captain’s condition as he hinted that the defender’s season might be over. On Wednesday, James gave an update on his injury as he shared a cryptic message on social media.

WHAT REECE JAMES SAID

The 24-year-old took to Instagram where he uploaded a story which had a message that read, “I’ve been gone a while, but I’m doing well. Really well. The journey has been long and tough, but nothing I couldn’t handle. I’m in a good place. The comeback is on, more hungry than ever. Stay well in the meantime and see you soon.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are next in action on Saturday as they take on Manchester City in a crucial FA Cup semi-final. The Blues lost in the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool earlier this season and will want to avoid a repeat of that this time out.
