Moises Caicedo was overjoyed to score his first goal for Chelsea in spectacular fashion, helping secure a 2-1 victory against Bournemouth on the final day of the season. The Ecuadorian midfielder opened the scoring for the Blues with a remarkable strike that left fans in awe.
After a hurried clearance from Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto, Caicedo collected the ball, composed himself, and lofted a shot into the net from the halfway line, sending Stamford Bridge into a frenzy.
Following halftime, Raheem Sterling doubled Chelsea’s lead with a near-post finish. Although Bournemouth managed to pull one back, the Blues held on for a final-day win, securing a place in European competition next season.
Caicedo expressed his joy at contributing to the team’s success with such a spectacular goal. “It was an amazing goal,” he said. “I had the chance to shoot, and I took it. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to score that incredible goal in the last game.”
Reflecting on his decision to shoot rather than pass, he added, “I didn’t want to look for my teammates – I just wanted to try. It’s been a good season for us to qualify for Europe, and I’m happy to have achieved this. I’m confident we’ll succeed next season as well.”
Caicedo is looking forward to more successes after his debut campaign in West London. “It is great to be here and join Chelsea – one of the best teams in the world. This season was amazing, and I’m sure next season will be really good,” he concluded.
