Benitez reveals best player he ever coached

Former Real Madrid and Liverpool manager, Rafael Benitez, has revealed that Steven Gerrard was the best player he ever coached.

Benitez disclosed that he could not say it while being with Real Madrid, but can admit it now.

The 64-year-old, who served as the Reds’ coach between 2004 and 2010, coached Gerrard for six seasons.

Speaking via The Overlap, Benitez said: “The best player I ever coached was Steven Gerrard.

“When I was at Madrid I couldn’t say that, but now I can say that.
