Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who previously served as assistant to Pep Guardiola, has hailed his former boss as the undisputed best manager in the world “by a significant margin.” Arteta spent three years working alongside Guardiola following his retirement as a player, before taking up the managerial role at Arsenal in December 2019.
During the previous season, Arteta’s Arsenal squad engaged in a tight battle with Guardiola’s Manchester City for the Premier League title, with Arsenal narrowly missing out on the championship in the final weeks of the campaign. This season, Arteta finds himself leading Arsenal to the top of the league table once again as they prepare to face Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking about Guardiola, the 42-year-old expressed his admiration, stating, “He is the best manager in the world by a significant margin. He is someone I loved working with, and that bond will endure. His intelligence, team management skills, and extraordinary work ethic are remarkable, and he contributes a great deal behind the scenes that often goes unnoticed.”
